Read Rick’s Award-Winning Research Paper!

Consumers aren’t the only people who can benefit from having a financial planner; so can financial planners. Rick’s research paper on why planners don’t use planners–and the surprising professional benefits they receive if they do–is titled, “Becoming Consumers of the Profession We Practice.” His paper was named a 2008 winner of the Journal of Financial Planning Frontiers Award.

“The Psychology of Money” Webinar Available On KFG Website

The topic of the psychology of money is getting a lot of attention from the financial press and advisors these days. Financial Planning Magazine sponsored a web seminar on the topic this week, with 160 advisors in attendance. Talking To Your Children About Money

Rick talks about the importance of talking to your children about money in this Washington Times article, titled “Making Sense of Dollars & Cents.”

Ann Geracimos wrote, ”Where child-parent relations are concerned, Mr. Kahler suggests that parents ‘first take a look at their own money script and how they act around money. Money is the big taboo subject, so parents should talk very factually about what is happening.

Don’t Dump Your Financial Fears Onto Your Kids

Rick suggests the current market crisis and recession is a good time to talk to your kids about money, but you must be sure you are not “venting” or “dumping” on them inappropriately. In an October 18 article in the Minneapolis-St. Paul StarTribune, reporter Kara McGuire covered this issue. TD Ameritrade Joins Government Temporary Money Market Insurance Program

A few clients have called wondering if TD Ameritrade was going to join the US Treasury’s Temporary Guarantee Program for Money Market funds. All TD Ameritrade money market shares as of September 19, 2008, are now insured for 90 days. 

As you know, never before have any money market accounts had any government guarantee.

ABC’s Good Morning America Features Onsite Healing Money Issues Workshop

The Onsite Healing Money Issues program, founded by Dr. Ted Klontz and Rick, was featured on ABC’s Good Morning America program last Monday.  The program featured Ted and Wynonna Judd, who went through the program several years ago and highlighted her experience with the program in her book, Coming Home To Myself.  Another past participant, Warren Brent, also was featured on the clip.
